Just My Scrap

When my daughter turned five last year we didn’t do the usual big party for her (okay not really a big party but a party with all her friends are their parents) but instead we did a weekend getaway at a nice hotel and had a blast at Universal Studios. She didn’t mind at all, she had so fun that she never even asked about a party or presents for that matter. I was tempted to shop online for their 5th birthday gifts though, I decided not to and just let her choose a few items as souvenirs at universal studios. For this year I think I’m gonna throw her a party, I love parties and I love the party pictures after. I have the little one’s 1st birthday party to plan first

My daughter has been begging us for months to buy bicycles so she can go with her daddy at the waterfront park where there’s a bike/jogging trail. She didn’t really want her bicycle but one for her daddy with a seat attached to it so she could ride with him. I would love to give in to this since it would be a fun bonding activity for them and at the same time it is also a great way to exercise for dear hubby. I’m concerned about where to keep it though, we won’t need one of those suv bike rack of course but I certainly don’t want to keep it in the house. I’m wondering if it’s safe to just use one of the bike racks at the carpark of our block. Sooner or later I’m going to break and just buy one for them, ohhh I can have fun photos to scrap with after that

I often wonder what my husband could have gotten me if he had to pick up my Christmas present on his own every year. I don’t know if it’s the same with all men but for him it is so much easier that I tell him that I want and he either buys it for me (sometimes I buy them myself) or gives me the money to pick up my gift. This has always been the way it is for us, most of the time I’m fine with it because at least I get what I really want but sometimes I wish he can surprise me and come up with something himself. I know I shouldn’t expect sapphire rings from him but I’d like to think that after 11 years of being together that he would have a clue of the things I like and don’t like. Oh well that’s not gonna happen this year because I already sent him pictures of the purses I like and he will be picking up one for my present this year.

This is probably the time of the year where everyone spends a little more than they use to, I know that’s the case with me. Well it can’t be helped, I try to stay on my budget by finding sales and bargains online and at the mall but the bottom line is I still spend. There’s kids and godchildren for both hubby and me and our two girls of course. No one needs unexpected expenses on top of their Christmas spending so I know how frustrated my cousin is right now for needing motor home repairs at this time of the year. But this is something they need to get done now, not next month so they don’t have any choice but to come up with the money. Good thing they haven’t done any of their big ticket purchases yet, those will have to wait until January.

I need to take pictures of my girls in their holiday dresses for our Christmas card. Holiday season is just around the corner and with that I know we will be taking lots of pictures. I have to make sure I have enough rechargeable batteries so we are good to go on Christmas eve. I would hate to miss perfect shots because the camera battery died. It is a special Christmas because it’s our baby girl’s first so I want to make sure I get photos to document our holiday.

It took my cousin a while looking for Registered Nurse Jobs before she finally found one. She was patient and she never stopped sending out applications while she worked another job. She needed a job so she worked at a call centre for the mean time but she didn’t stop looking for the job she really wanted and have a degree for. It wasn’t easy for her being turned down a bunch of times but it was good that she perserved because now she’s going to start a job as a registered nurse which is fantastic.

If we have a budget for home renovation I will get contractors to do our kitchen and bathrooms in a heartbeat. I know everything is working properly still but I won’t mind having a brand new, fully-equipped kitchen with one of those sienna sinks undermount sinks and nice bathrooms with glass shower doors and towel rack on the side. I would definitely choose granite counter tops and different tiles for the floor and bathroom walls, a better three-burner stove with a big oven would be nice too. I hope in a few years we can finally save up to make this big project a reality. It would be fun to collaborate with an interior designer and start from scratch.

My cousin has been working in the hospital for about six months now and she’s telling me how much she loves her job the other day. She was nervous at first because she didn’t want to make any mistakes and she wanted to be really good at her job. She made an effort to learn the routine of the staff at the hospital, making sure the medicine carts are properly stocked and ready to be used at all times. She had great bedside manner and just do what she’s suppose to be and give much more to her patients. I know she’s happy with her job and I think it’s great, when you love your job you work better and I know she’ll be great and she’ll go places.

My sister who is a freshman in college this year is now slowly learning how to use makeup, she’s not really the vain type of girl but I think she wants to learn how to apply makeup properly. We’ve been chatting about makeup brands and brushes, not that I’m an expert but you know how sisters talk about girly stuff all the time even if it’s about eyelash growth products and I don’t know anything about it we just chat and both do our research online. In no time I’m sure she will be better in applying makeup than me. I always tell her not to overdo it though because she is beautiful even without it and makeup should only enhance her features and not transform her entirely.
